Great stuff, Egon. Thanks for the link.

I heard on TV last night that 30 some odd percent of Americans believe in creationism. One of the main tenets of creationism is that the earth is no more than 6000 years old. Are any where near that many Canadians similarly deluded?

All the science news in the world is wasted on those folks. Their minds are made up and they don't want to be confused by the facts. Another scary thing is they vote!

There, I managed to inject religion and politics into the same few words.

Can't answerer the question Pat as it would only be conjecture!

But I did manage to watch a documentary on the Rocky Mountains. IT was rather scary as they said the mountains would erode away. Definitely one can see a need for "Stop the mountain erosion" group to be formed!

Egon, I have been to some bristlecone pine stands with living trees in them that are over 5000 years old. These are above 10, 000 ft in elevation. The mountain sites are quite rocky with little soil. Much of the roots of many of the trees are quite exposed. This is from over 5000 years of erosion, the mountains are wearing away leaving these extremely old tree roots more exposed. I was very impressed by this.
