Geese and ducks headed south

It seems that I counted, well estimated, they didn't hold formation with the precision required to get a good count, 72 geese headed south the other day. A couple mornings ago 4 ducks showed up and repetitively overflew 4 of my 10 ponds. I watched for 5 minutes and they never made up their minds. I never saw them land so I don't know if they went elsewhere or what. I felt snubed, like I didn't make the cut. What could they want? There is water in the ponds, plenty of grass with seed heads and one pond has a resident pair of duck decoys. Hopefully last years mom and dad geese will return or maybe one of the their three goslings, Huey, Duey, or Louie.

The only thing I can think of is some trees to roost in!

GaFarmer, Several nice t4rees next to the pinds on question. I have never seen any duck or goose type waterfowl (except wood ducks) in a tree.
