Bought grandpas farm a few years back and have been cleaning up the place for a few years. Love it.But alot of work. My question is this. I have 3 hydrants spread around the yard. 1 by chicken coop, 1 by grainary, 1 by the old barn. The barn had water pipes in the milk house that did not work. The hydrant just outside the barn works. There is a small round cap at ground level about 3" diameter that says Mueller water on it. What is it? Is it a shut off valve of some type? HELP!

If it has a cap on it and a pipe going down it may be a buried shut off valve. See how deep it is and then look around for a piece of T handled pipe with several lugs or bars on the end. This may be the tool require to operate the valve.
