Chevy Impala owners?

Anybody out there in CBN land own one of the recent generation of Chevy Impalas? Wifey and I were looking at them today and they seem to have quite a bit of room. We need a vehicle to safely and comfortably transport two adults, two kids (one large, one small), and a 65 lb dog over long distances. In addition, it will serve as a commuting car. Any thoughts as to whether the Impala would fit the bill? There are also two engine choices, a 3.4 and a 3.8, both of which have been used extensively in the GM lineup. Opinions on this are welcomed also.

The company I work for has company cars from all 3 major manufacturers. Ford Taurus, Chevy Impala, and something from Chrysler (can't remember the model). I've driven them all between our 2 locations, about 200 miles apart, and I think the Impala is the nicest and roomiest of the three, plenty for 4 adults. The Taurus is second. In fact, I told the guy who manages the fleet, to put me on the list for one of the Impalas when they're ready to wholesale it. They have the 3.4 liter engine and have plenty of pep and at least 400 miles on a tank of gas.

For a 65 lb pet, nothing beats an SUV for me. I put the mutt in the back. Works for me, may not for you.

Far be it from me to do anything that would disrupt domestic tranquility , but for what you'd pay for a relatively new Chevy Impala, you can have this. Automatic, AC, PS, PB, and a whole lots more fun!!!
