Put the dogs out this morning and noticed that they all started limping almost immediately. It didn't feel that cold to me. I got them back inside and checked the Davis Weatherstation - 18 below! That's the coldest it's registered so far. I heard there's a possibility of some very cold air that may affect us in the east mid to late next week. The Vermont NPR weather guy said that we may see temperatures that haven't been as low since 2000.
Attached is a pic of what "cold" looks like to me. It was taken this morning at 7:30.

Don't put the jacket up just yet, Paul. Next Tuesday and Wednesday our HIGH is supposed to not quite reach zero!

Paul, which model of the Davis weather station do you use? I've been looking at these, and am wondering about the usefulness of some of the extra options on the Vantage Pro.
Here's the same view this morning from AZ (same local time, 7:30am).

Oh... I thought Tad Chilly was the username of our newest CBN member! 
Yeah, that looks like the definition of cold to me, too. I had to break down and cover all my plants yesterday. Last night was our first night below freezing. We are having a real cold snap here on the Gulf Coast... supposed to be in the upper 20s again tonight and tomorrow night. Then warm back up to the 60s.

We gave up worring about the plants. I'm concentrating on giving myself some extra cover at night.

Hank, it is a wireless Vantage Pro. I purchased the Weatherlink software package with it because, unfortunately, it's the only way to get the piece of hardware to connect the station to your PC.

This winter has been unbelievable. It's been between 10 below to 25 below at night here in upstate New York. Makes getting out to take care of the animals at 5:30AM a little tougher!! We have frozen pipes going to our washing machine, that even our plumber can't defrost. The weather report says it won't even hit 20 above until at least Saturday...maybe. I don't think we'll ever have a thaw!!! I'm expecting to see Wooly Mammoths, any day now!!!

imagine poor Rosie and the rest of the critters snuggled up with only hay in that cold unheated barn @ 20 below!...

You're right, John!! And I feel guilty that only my dogs live inside the heated house with us!! I wish all the critters could move inside, but I'm not sure that they do. The horses spend most of their time outside, and seem to enjoy the cold. They only go in the barn to drink and get their morning and evening grain. The rest of the time they're outside. The goats spend the night in the barn, but they're outside as soon as I come in and wake them up. After they all get their morning grain, the horses and goats all go outside and sprawl out in the snow for a morning nap. The cold doesn't seem to bother them!! They all have gotten VERY wooly coats this year!! The horses look like ice age horses!!

My poor hens just come to the door and peek out suspiciously when I open the coop every morning. The only chickens that seem happy with the weather are the little bantam Brahma roosters all snuggled up between those big fat Buff Orpington hens!

Yeah ... same here ... I envy them those thick, soft fur coats ... mother nature does a pretty good job on insulation ... you see snow sitting on their backs and it doesn't even melt when I bring them into the barn.
Never seen a shivering horse.
The dogs, now, have nice coats ... but shrewd minds ... they stick their noses out and decide they can probably "hold it" for another couple of hours, or a week ... or ...
