That's a digital photo of my back yard/pasture taken about three years ago. Last couple of winters haven't been much to talk about.

Good eye Fred, yes they are Eastern Larch. Unfortunately all but one are gone now. That picture was taken 4-5 years ago. Two years ago we had an infestation of bark beetles, killed 99% of the larches in a 10 mile radius.
I'm in Eastern Maine, BTW, about 75 miles from the border with New Brunswick.

I love larch trees! We have three huge, multi-trunked clusters of them left in the lower meadow. In autumn they look like huge yellow flames reaching into the sky!
