White icy stuff on plants.
      12/28/03 08:21 PM Attachment

Has any one walking through the woods, on one of the first mornings of fall that has a frost, seen one of these plants emitting this icy stuff? What plant is it and what is that white stuff? The white stuff is light, cool, and kind of flaky. It disappears later in the morning. It is located in central Texas.
TxDon.

Hello Don. From my experience, this is ice. It forms in these small sheets as it expands out from cracks in the plant's stem. I will predict that this plant will be dead, come spring. It has happened to my Penta plants, which are ex-Pentas in March.

As far as what type of plant, can't help you there.
