Goat post-birth bleeding/swollen knee
      02/28/08 02:00 PM

How long does a female goat spot blood after giving birth? I have one who gave birth a week ago tonight and she's still having some spotting.

Also, her front right knee is swollen. Any advice on how to help her with that? She's limping on it.

Thanks.

Linda, spotting is not uncommon, as long as there is no odor to the discharge. it can continue for 1 or 2 and sometimes even 3 weeks. If there is an odor, it can be an infection. Her swollen knee bears watching, keep me posted on it. It could just be a bruise. Is it warmer than the rest of her leg? If so it could be an infection.
