Great Pyreenes puppy chasing/chewing baby goats
      10/16/02 04:51 PM

Have recently acquired 22 pigmy goats with some young kids. We also have a female Great Pyreenes puppy, (6mos old) to guard them. The puppy has taken to chasing the kids unmercifully and grabs their ears and drags them around. The dog doesn't really hurt the kids but their ears are all chewed up. Is this just the puppy in her and will it cease, or can/should something be done? Thanks :

Sounds like some training is in order, for one of the three involved at least. How about an electric collar for the pup. A few jolts when ear chewing should provide the education needed to at least get its attention. Seems a 6 mo. old is not too young be trained on a few basics.

Hi Lauva,When you find a good way to stop that puppy from chasing those goats, let me know! Our puppy chases EVERYTHING! Chickens, lambs, cats.

Man cannot live on bread alone. He needs peanutbutter, too.
