Rabbits cages and grass
      06/09/05 09:59 PM

OK, was not sure exactly where to post this question, I will try here. Anyway, we have rabbit hutches under a tree. I need to get more grass to grow under the tree, which will eliminate the mud factor and improve the aesthetics. It is already difficult to grow grass under a big tree, but the traffic by the cages makes it even harder. We live in the Houston area, the tree is a large Bald Cypress, and the surrounding grass is St. Augustine.

Any ideas out there?

I know St.Augustine does not handle foot traffic well. How about Bermuda grass? I do not know how well it does in shade, but I know it handles foot traffic well. You also run the risk of another type of grass overtaking or causing problems with your St.Augustine lawn... How about mulch instead?

I agree, mulch will do a much better job than grass.
