First eggs
      07/20/03 01:35 AM

Well, the chickens are 4-1/2 months old (I got them unfeathered on March 13), and they laid 5 eggs this past week. The lady at the feed store said they were too young to be laying but the hens don't seem to know how old they are (I've heard chickens aren't too bright). Now if I can get them to lay eggs in the nests. So far I've been finding the eggs in the run. I also figure they're from different hens, since they were all small eggs.

Chickens can start laying eggs between 18-26 weeks old. If you have a nest box, you can put some fake eggs into the box and that will trick them into using the nest box.

Good luck,

Joe

Drop a couple of golf balls in the nests.

Steve
