Naked Pine Trees

I posted a different question about this subject on the critters thread. Harvester (red) ants are eating my newly planted Eldarica pine trees and nothing seems to stop them. Question - if I do get them stopped, will the pine trees come back after being completely stripped of needles by these beasts?
