Planting for a Hedge
      02/05/03 06:53 PM

I plan on planting a hedge on the front of my property to block wind as well as aesthetics. As one end of my property is higher than the other I was considering running a mound of dirt from the high end to the low end (level run) and planting on the berm. My question is can you grow white spruce along a ridge?

You can, but the ground will be much dryer, just like a raised bed in a garden. You'll probably need to water a fair amount until everything is well established.

Thanks Andy,
Was thinking of running a soaker hose down the middle for the first few years.
