Peach
      08/13/06 06:50 AM

Finally got to eat a peach from the front yard tree. The wind had blown it off and after letting it sit a few days it was eaten. Best tasting peach I ever ate!

Congrats Egon.

I don't think you can beat home grown peaches. The birds and I look forward to mine each year. Next year tough I think the birds are going to be disappointed, because I got a very large net to cover the tree this spring. Mmmmm more for me!

Hope you get to enjoy many more.

Egon, About the only thing better than a good home grown peach is a home grown peach with some home made icecream. Home made peach icecream is pretty good too.

I remember many many years ago when I was a kid we were gonna make homemade ice cream and I decided to add peaches to it. I didn't know you are suppose to add them after the ice cream is about frozen and added them from the start. Man where they frozen harder that the ice cream, solid.
Lifes lessons.

Egon,
Its too cold up north. Try those peaches on some good ole homemade peach cobbler. Nothing better for your taste buds. Bad for the waist though.

jnapier:

A dozen peaches in one year from the only tree! Somehow they just can't seem to make it into a cobbler. I actually prefer fruit eaten raw andthat includes grapes.

Canada is a wide country with many different climate zones.

But Egon, it is hard to keep fresh grapes over the winter. Sometimes putting some away in liquid form has benefit.

How do you manage to store processed fresh grapes "Hick" over the winter.

White Oak barrels for curing and proof increase are hard to come by farther north.

I don't know egon, I was thinking of your making grape juice concentrate so you could have grape juice in the long winter up there and help keep down scurvy.
