Cracking Hickory Nuts

I've been cracking and eating hickory nuts all my life but shelling them and getting the nutmeat out is not easy. I'm looking for an easier way to get the nut meat out. Anyone have any ideas?
The best I've found is to hold the nut with the stem pointing left or right and the "ridge" pointing up and down. Then hit just right with a hammer. Then sit and pick the meat out with a nut pick. It's still takes a long long time to do a bushel this way.
There's just got to be a better way.

Send the nuts up to me. I can crack and eat them for you. That would make it much easier than your present method.

So, Egon, does this offer indicate you are back on an unrestricted diet? If so congratulations, otherwise the nuts could come to me in the interim awaiting your ability to "handle" them.

I was instructed "Normal Diet with lots of fiber" Some of the antibiotics preclude the use of milk products. So far I have not sampled Pilsner from Pilsen but am tempted.
Besides nuts store well!
