fly traps

I have an unfinished bonus room in my house and a large barn and both have become "the place where flies go to die". I don't have livestock (besides two cats) - so it isn't related to that. It is more a hassle than anything - and I've started to hang fly traps - but I was wondering if anyone had any great ideas/solutions for flies in "unused spaces".

Any help would be appreciated.
