    Default Gardenias

I have a really large gardenia bush in my yard that is starting to get a little unwieldy. Anyone know what time of year is best for giving them a trim?

I got this portion of the article from How and When to Prune a Gardenia Shrub I hope it helps. When I need the flowers for my vase, I make sure that I cut the flowers of my gardenias with longer stems so that they are pruned at the same time.

It is best to prune your gardenia shrub right after the blooms have faded in the summer. Gardenias will set their flower buds for the next year in the fall. So pruning in the summer will allow you to cut back some of the older wood without risking cutting away newly set buds.
