Paneling or White Wall

My wife likes the old paneling in our house but I hate it and want to put up white wall or something. Any suggestions? Do you think paneling is outdated?

I am a woman, and don't really understand why does your wife likes the paneling. It is way outdated and most of them just make the rooms look smaller and stuffy. However, I also agree with Jimbrown, if you want peace in the house, you might consider just leaving it alone.

Paneling was big back in the 70's and 80's, but today it looks cheap. I would definitely put up wallboard or drywall and paint it a nice, light shade of paint.
