Default Potatoes

As I am new to gardening I am wondering how long after my potatoes bud will they be ready for diggin up. I know I am to wait two weeks after the plant dries up but wondering how long that will be? The deer hit them pretty hard but I still have a lot of buds even on plants that have been eaten off the buds are starting to show up.

The two weeks after the plant dies is for potatoes that you will use for storage, this allows the skin to thicken and harden. You can dig the potatoes at any time if you use the potatoes right of way. You can also rob the plants by reaching in the dirt and pulling a potato from each plant.

    Ok,

Then how long after the the buds appear will the plant die? Reason I am asking is I have a whole bunch of buds now and wondering how much longer will it be before I have potatoes?

Just use your hands and dig around a plant. You will find the potatoes and can determine their size.

Those nice little ones that the skin washes off easily are the best ones. Just boil and add garlic butter.

The potatoes and the plants will continue to grow for a couple of months after the plants first begin to blossom.
