Egg carton crafts

My kids have collected a bunch of egg cartons and want to do crafts with them. Outside of making a caterpillar, what can we do with these?

For Christmas decorations, I've seen hanging bells that kids have made. They cut each of the compartments apart and then paint and decorate each one. Poke a hole in the top of each, tie them together with ribbon so they are hanging at different levels and put a ribbon bow at the top. It's easy to do and makes a very nice door hanger or wall decoration.
